How do I submit tutorials?

You can simply visit the "submit" page and from there you can fill in the following fields:

Category: Choose a category that best fits the overall theme your tutorial

Homepage: Enter the main/home page of the site/blog where this tutorial can be found. NOTE: this should be a link to the main site homepage and not the direct link to a specific tutorial (a seperate space is provided for the actual Tutorial URL).

Tutorial Title: A descriptive title for the tutorial.

Tutorial URL: This is where you enter the full URL to the actual tutorial being submitted. Do not enter a general homepage (there is a spot for that on the form).

Avatar: You may upload a small picture icon to appear next to the tutorial. Pictures will be automatically resized to fit the layout of our website.

I just submitted my tutorials but I don't see them on the site!

When tutorials are submitted they are sent to an "approval que" where they have to be approved by an Administrator before they will appear online in the directory. The approval process may take a few hours or it make take a few days.

There is also the possibility that a submission might not be approved at all. Please make sure to follow the rules and guidelines before submitting your tutorial to make sure that it meets all requirements.

My tutorials aren't getting approved!

It is possible that your tutorials are being declined during the approval process, here are some basic rules to follow before submitting your tutorial:

- Make sure that your tutorial doesn't require registration to view.
- Make sure it's a tutorial, where you actually learn something.

I uploaded my own avatar but the avatar wasn't the one I uploaded?

Normally this happens because either the avatar was not a .GIF/.JPG/.PNG image, or something interrupted the upload process during submission.

Depending on the size of your avatar and the speed of your internet connection, it could take a while for the image to upload from your computer to our server. It is important that this upload process is not interrupted or the avatar might not upload correctly.

Once you press submit at the end of the your tutorial you should wait until the process ends with the "Submission Accepted" page.

When I submit tutorials, how come they don't always succeed?

This could be caused by many problems, but just follow what it tells you to put such as when it says "include http://" or in the titles use normal characters and try to avoid using symbols that may cause problems.

Do I need to register to submit a tutorial?

Yes, you must be a member of Stamp N Scrap Ideas (SSI) to add tutorials to our database.

Membership is free so join today and be an active part of our community!

Can I edit the submitted tutorial(s) after they are submitted?

At present, Stamp N Scrap Ideas (SSI) does not allow users to edit tutorials themselves but you may contact the site adminstrator (through the Contact page) and let them know of any changes you would like to make.

What's the 'avatar' for?

The 'avatar' is a small picture representative of the overall theme (or finished product) of a tutorial.

An avatar is not necessary for each tutorial you submit, but can be very useful because it gives users an idea of what to expect within the tutorial.

How long does it take for a tutorial to be approved?

There is no set period of time that it will take to approve your tutorial, if it is approved at all. It will most likely depend on how many tutorials are in the Approval Que and how often the site administrator approves tutorials.

How do I rate a tutorial?

Each tutorial has 5 rating stars (1 = lowest, to 5 = highest):

You must be a Stamp N Scrap (SSI) member, and be logged in, in order to rate tutorials.

To rate a tutorial, simply click a rating star... 1 (poor, would not recommend) to 5 (Excellent). Once you click a star, the tutorial's rating and number of votes will be automatically updated through the magic of javascript which should be enabled on your browser for our site.

Each user is only allowed to vote once for each tutorial.

I've clicked a tutorial and it doesn't work.

Each tutorial has a [ REPORT DEAD LINK ] link under it. If you visit a tutorial and the tutorial isn't there because either it was deleted or the site is gone, simply click this link and the tutorial will automatically be submitted to the administrator for review and possible deletion from the database.

What does "[ MORE FROM THIS SOURCE ]" mean?

This link will go to a page that lists all the tutorials in our database for a particular website.

This is useful if you like the site's style of making tutorials or want to find out what other tutorials the site has.

Why don't the "Dead Link" and "Rate" links work?

If these links don't work (meaning nothing happens) then this is probably because your browser doesn't have Javascript enabled. You need a browser with Javascript enabled to open these pop-ups.

How do I sort tutorials?

While viewing lists of tutorials there is a Sort box at the top of the page which allows you to select in which order to display tutorials.

The first column determines the main sorting order for the tutorials. You may choose to sort tutorials by their: Name, Date Added, Rating, Source Site, or number of Views. You may then select to view tutorials in either Ascending or Descending order based on the chosen order.

In the second column you have the option of choosing a second criteria for sorting the tutorials. You may leave this blank to sort only by the choices made in the first column, or pick a secondary sort condition.

For example:
If you choose to sort only by "Date Added"->"Descending" (choosing the options only in the first column)... Tutorials will be displayed newest to oldest.

If you choose "Date"->"Descending" in the first column and "Name"->"Ascending" in the second column... Tutorials will be displayed by newest to oldest based on the date added, but then Alphabetically by name for all tutorials added on a given day.
